Back in 1907, when Las Vegas was just a sleepy little railroad town, a dairy farmer named Harry Anderson started a dairy farm on a sparsely vegetated piece of land, way out in the countryside, across from what is now University Medical Center on West Charleston Boulevard.

With luck and lots of hard work, Harry succeeded in raising a small herd of 10-15 milking cows. A Las Vegas tradition was born!

Rustic as this relatively new western town was without the modern convenience of refrigeration, Harry Anderson delivered his milk by horse-drawn wagon twice a day to ensure that his customers always had fresh milk. Wet burlap was draped over the bottles in the back of the wagon to keep them cool until they could be delivered to each customer. Boy, how things were to change!

Many years later, Anderson Dairy's growing operation relocated to a new site on the corner of Hoover and Fifth streets, now known as Las Vegas Boulevard. Quality, service and customer satisfaction had helped Anderson Dairy build a strong reputation in its growing home delivery business.

During World War II, when gasoline was in short supply, Anderson Dairy did its part for the war effort by removing the engines from our delivery trucks and put horses back into service once again to help with the delivery of milk.

The 1930's and early '40's offered a thrilling time of growth in Las Vegas. Hoover Dam was being built, legalized gambling was here and business was booming. Anderson Dairy was busy delivering milk to a growing community.

Over the years, Anderson Dairy had seen many changes, even participated in a few of them. Many will remember the "nifty fifties," the days of poodle skirts, jukebox music and soda shops. We were there with our own brand of ice cream soda shop!

In 1956, Anderson Dairy built the largest, most advanced dairy processing plant in the southwest, on what is today's present location. Consisting of a 37,000 square foot processing and bottling plant, this new facility incorporated the latest, most up-to-date equipment and technologies available. Anderson Dairy had made a solid commitment to the community, the many families, exciting hotels and new restaurants that would come to make Las Vegas home.

Today, a century later, the principles on which Harry Anderson founded our dairy still prove successful. We'll continue to provide our customers with the finest dairy products, the most dependable service, and a reason to trust in our name. We believe it’s the way Harry would have wanted it to be.
